- HONOURS A number of children have been performing with the Glee club and recently were awarded the Spirit of Glee cup when performing in a recent Edinburgh competition. They are in the process of practising for the Edinburgh finals. One of the children has also won national Kayaking competitions.

Scientific Connections
Children have attended workshops linked to the Edinburgh Science Festival.
This year (2018) our school is one of only 11 Scottish schools to receive a golden ticket for access to Dynamic Earth.

“Laura & Doris” is a sing-along song for children developed during workshops at Clovenstone Primary School in Edinburgh in 2017. It is based on the imagined early lives of Aberdonian Zoologists Doris Mackinnon, and Laura Florence. The enthusiasm of the children is catching – so do join in!

These are the sounds of the children of Primary 6 at Clovenstone School in Edinburgh. From October 2017 – January 18th 2018 we met and made noises together. The piece start with their sound interpretation of the words: Scottish Superwomen of Science and then some of their favourite science sounds.

Education
- A number of children are in an after school Glee club run by 3 teachers.
- 2 children have lessons in school learning to play the clarinet.
- 1 child has been learning to play keyboard out side of school.
- 1 child is learning piano and sings in the church choir.
In class we learn a broad curriculum with the emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Occupations
Out of 18 pupils 3 want to be scientists, 11 want to be singers and 1 wants to be a composer.
Musical Highlights
The glee Club performed outdoor on stage as part of the city of Edinburgh Christmas celebrations 2017. They also were on radio and local TV performing Christmas songs.
They have been taking part in Edinburgh competitions against other schools.
Did You Know?
The children found some very unusual places around school to do their reading – under desks and in a dusty old cupboard being a few of them.
