COMPOSERS

Modern legislation prevents overt discrimination, yet deeply ingrained bias inherited from the past is hard to eradicate. There are still fewer female composers than men, although the situation has improved during recent years. In earlier centuries, women were encouraged to perform music, whereas composition was seen as an abstract intellectual activity that was more suitable for men. Minerva Scientifica wants men and women to be treated equally – which is why our school groups include boys as well as girls.
